Gokul Suresh, the son of actor Suresh Gopy, is on a signing spree. Besides the Ajai Vasudev-Mammootty project, where he plays a college student, the actor has also signed for a romantic outing titled Pappu.

The movie, directed by P Jayaram Kailas, will have Gokul in a new look. The actor apparently underwent a makeover to look the part of a romantic hero. He has lost oodles of weight, and will be seen sporting a beard.

According to the director, the lead character Pappu is someone whom we see in our neighbourhood. “He is a young boy who idles around and has no responsibility to anyone. Like any boy of that age, he falls in love and is consumed by it. It is a realistic take on today’s generation,” says the director.

He adds that the character required someone who is in his early twenties. “So, our search zeroed in on Gokul and we were sure that he would do justice to the role,” he added.

The director is also convinced of Gokul’s attitude towards his profession. “He has a good knowledge about movies and did give suggestions and ideas about the script. He is someone who has a great future,” says Jayaram.

There will be two lady leads in the movie, which has been scripted by newbie Umesh Krishnan. It will go on the floors next month in Palakkad.
