Film- 'Shankar IPS' (Kannada)

Cast- Vijay, Ragini, Catherene, Avinash, Rangayana Raghu, Shobaraj and others

Director- MS Ramesh

Director MS Ramesh, who began his career as a dialogue writer, has once again proved his mettle with 'Shankar IPS'.

The USP of this film is the punchy dialogues that are aimed at corrupt politicians, children of affluent people and greedy lawyers. Though the director has made it clear that the dialogues and the characters in the film are fictitious, they have the potential to influence the society.

As far as Vijay’s performance is concerned, he is at his best in the action scenes. He has also improved a lot in dialogue delivery. But had he made a little bit effort to pronounce the dialogues clearly, it would be better. The police station scene where Vijay is seen in tears looks incongruous.

Rangayana Raghu has provided very good support in the film. His dialogue delivery and gestures are superb. Veteran character artiste Avinash has also provided good support. As far as glamour is concerned, there is no dearth for it in this film. Ragini looks nervous while Mumbai belle Catherine is impressive.

The story revolves around Shankar Prasad (Vijay), a strict police officer. Prasad antagonises affluent people in the society and loses his job. He continues punishing lewd people who become dangerous for innocent women. The police arrest him and produce him in the court. He demands a TV channel to organise an open debate about his situation. The remaining part of the film is how Prasad teaches the haughty Saklecha (Avinash) and his son Giridhar Saklecha a lesson for their lewd activities.

Dasari Sreenu has done a neat job behind the camera while Gurukiran has provided lilting music. It is a film worth watching if you love action flicks.
