Good script, bad screenplay.

'Chinnada Taali' (Kannada)

Director: Vemagal Jagannatha Rao

Cast: Tilak, Thungasree, Swathi, Devaraj

It is unfortunate that senior director Vemagal Jagannatha Rao has failed to feel the pulse of the audience. His latest movie ‘Chinnada Taali’ has nothing to offer, except steamy gestures and postures in wet costumes by Sweta. It looks more like a television serial.

Writer and co-producer Chalapathi has provided a good script but failed to ensure screenplay crisp. Most of the sequences, especially the comedy scenes, test the patience of the audience. Music by Damodar is also not up to the mark.

The movie is about Vinod (Tilak), the son of a businessman and Vimala (Thungasree), a girl from a middle-class family, who marry without their parents’ consent. As usual, the newly-married couple spends time happily for a few months. At this juncture, Vinod’s mother enters the scene and advises him to send Vimala to her parents’ house for a few days.

Vinod’s father insists him to marry the daughter of a corporator (Jigani Shankar). He even confines Vinod to a bungalow when he refuses to follow his advice. Meanwhile, Vimala finds out that she is pregnant. Her father approaches Shiva (Devaraj), a police inspector, for help. Finally, good prevails over bad.

As far as the performance of the artistes is concerned, Tilak has to think twice before accepting such character roles. His physique and gestures are not suitable for a software engineer.

Thungasree has all the qualities to become an asset for Sandalwood provided she takes her profession seriously. Her dialogue delivery is good but has to hone her dancing skills. Swathi has the potential to make item-girls an envious lot. However, Devaraj, a senior artiste, ends up screaming at someone. His experience and talent are wasted in this insipid flick. Watch it if you have patience and have no other option to spend your leisure time.
