She was in the ninth grade when her debut film 'Thamirabarani' was released, and after a two-year break, actress Banu has returned to Kollywood with 'Azhagar Malai'. “During the shoot of 'Thamirabarani', everyone thought I was doing my eleventh grade but I was only in my ninth and now I’ve completed my plus two,” reveals the young actress, who has considerably toned down since her last film. She attributes her new chic look to regular Bharathnatyam practice
Banu justifies her long break: “Though I got a lot of offers after 'Thamirabarani', I was very choosy and not interested in skin show. Even in 'Thamirabarani', I was very particular about this and it was the 'Karupana Kaiyalae' song, which was not glamorous, that gave me the fame,”
Currently shooting Telugu and Kannada movies, Banu says she realizes that she needs to improvise a lot in acting. “When I saw the preview of 'Azhagar Malai', I found hundreds of mistakes and thought I could have performed better. Also, I am not happy about my makeup in this movie and I hope to improve in my next film,” she signs off. (Finally, an actress whospeaks the truth!)
RK’s next flick from August 7
RK is thrilled about the response he received from his debut film 'Ellam Avan Seyal', which was on air recently, and for his next film 'Azhagar Malai', which is slated to release on August 7. “It’s a village-based story about an alcoholic, who then realises how life goes haphazard due to this addiction,” says RK.
The comedy of Vadivelu will be the special highlight of the film. RK believes that Vadivelu’s different roles including that of a 'Terminator', will be a hit. The film has six songs and the cast includes Sukanya, Saravanan and Ranjitha among others.
SP Raajakumar, who will be directing Vijay’s 50th film, is the director of 'Azhagar Malai'. “I want to give hits and do at least five films before moving to other languages,” says RK.
