CHENNAI: "Ghajini" fame actress Asin Thottumkal has turned down animal welfare group People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals' (PETA) request to promote vegetarianism. She said she is a hardcore non-vegetarian and, therefore, it would be unfair to accept the offer.

"After I entered the film industry, I restricted my non-veg diet to fish and chicken. I can't, however, remain without non-veg food even for a single day. Therefore, it won't be proper for me to involve myself in the campaign against non-vegetarian food," said Asin.

From time to time, PETA ropes in celebrities and puts them in the forefront of its campaign to popularise vegetarian food habits. Aishwarya Rai and Manisha Koirala are among the few Bollywood actors who have lent their support to the campaign.
