RAJADHI Raja, directed by Sakthi Chidambaram, hit screens last week.

And the team of choreographerturned- comic action hero Raghava Lawrence, comedian- turned-music director Karunas and glam queen turned villain Mumtaz, have much to celebrate. The film is a shot in the arm for hero Raghava Lawrence who says, “I am confident about doing action with comedy now.The audience’s claps in the theatres told me that they had accepted me. Earlier in Muni and Pandi I did some action. But Rajadhi Raja has a pure action format with a comic tinge which gives me a whole new image. I thank Sakthi for changing my image from a dancing hero to an action hero.” Why did he experiment with comedy in the film? “I don’t think people will accept me as a pure action hero. So we conveyed certain sentiments and a message mixed with a dose of comedy to make it palatable,” says Lawrence about the film where he wins over his evil brothers by resorting to trickery instead of guns and swords.

For Lawrence it’s a big high that superstar Rajinikanth has promised to see his film. “Rajini sir asked me how the film is doing. He will be seeing it once he returns to Chennai,” gushes Lawrence. In August the superstar will open the Raghavendra Temple that Lawrence has built in Ambattur. For those who love Lawrence in his new comic avatar, there is more to come in his next, Irumbukottai Murattasingam.
