HE’S had an eventful innings in cinema with films like the Rajnikanth starrer Valli, Vasantha Malargal and several more in the 90’s. But for personal reasons, actor Hariraj took a hiatus from cinema. Now he’s back in circulation playing a cameo in the Vijaykanth starrer Mariyadhai and has several films in his kitty. “Though I successfully played hero in several films in the 90’s I left cinema for personal reasons.

I spent time back home in Coimbatore where I practice agriculture. I am an avid wildlife photographer and conservationist and I spent a lot of time in the jungles and on my farmlands. But an offer from my friend Sundar C to play villain in Rendu brought me back to cinema in 2006,” he laughs. Once he was back, the offers started trickling in once again. A cameo in Pachaikili Muthucharam came his way.

Later Kadhalil Vizhunthein happened and Hariraj got a meaty role as the good uncle who turns into the surprise villain in the film. The role got him recognition and today Hariraj is happy with the way things are going.

“Apart from a cameo in Vikraman’s Mariyadhai, I have a long role in Aridu Aridu, directed by Madirvanan. The other project is a role in ‘Anandam Arambam’ with Murli’s son Atharva,” he reveals.
