CHENNAI: Just as actor Vijay had begun working for his next film 'Velayudham', the Tamilnadu Theatre Owners Association has announced a complete boycott of the actor's forthcoming flicks, as he had not compensated them for the loss of his last film 'Suraa.' This decision was taken at the executive committee meeting of the association in the city this week.

67 theatre owners participated in the meeting.

Vijay's fiftieth film, 'Suraa', which was released on April 30, had flopped at the box office, resulting in a loss of about Rs 10 crore to theatre owners across the State.

Following this, the theatre owners demanded that the actor compensate them with at least 35 % of the Minimum Guarantee Amount that they had paid to acquire the exhibition rights of the film, which was released in 240 theatres across the state.

Though the actor had participated in a round of talks with the theatre owners, he didn't agreed to any compensation amount, which had led the theatres owners association to take this drastic step. "We would not be extending any further professional cooperation to his films from now," confirmed Sridhar, the association's executive committee member.
