UTV Motion Pictures’ Dhananjayan announced on his micro-blogging page that there was a big surprise awaiting Vikram’s fans in 'Thaandavam', which is a UTV production And the trailer of the film that was launched on Tuesday gave an idea of what he was talking about!
In the film, the actor plays a person who can echo-locate like a bat, though he is visually-impaired. As actor Nasser says in the trailer, air plays the role of eyes to Vikram, who is shown fumbling to ‘see’ what is around him in the trailer.
At the event, filmmaker Vijay gave credit to cinematographer Nirav Shah for letting him know about the existence of Daniel Kish, whose has inspired the role of Vikram in the movie.
“When I told Nirav about Vikram’s character in my film, he mentioned about Daniel Kish. We then met him in the US. He trained Vikram in echolocation and was with us while shooting,” he said.
About Daniel Kish, Vikram said, “He was amazing. You will not believe that he can’t see. He will get angry if you try to help him and he can even ride a bicycle.”
The actor, who is working with Vijay for the second time after 'Deiva Thirumagal', praised the filmmaker’s dedication towards the film during the 65 days of shoot held in London.
When asked how this character will be different from the role he played in Kasi, Vikram said, “I choose similar characters only if I am confident that I can show some difference between them.”
It is also possible that Vikram plays a dual role in the film. But the crew remained non-committal about it. The soundtrack of the movie will be launched on August 15. Amy Jackson, who was present at the launch, heaped praise on Vijay and Vikram for their effort.
