Director Ameer elected as FEFSI president

Ameer had defeated director-actor Visu by a mere nine votes to win the elections.

Director Ameer, who contested for the post of the president for the Film Employees’ Federation of South India (FEFSI), has emerged winner with a margin of nine votes. While Ameer is said to have got 37 votes in his favour out of 65 votes registered, his competitor director-actor Visu secured only 28 votes. Director Bharathiraja’s vote wasn’t considered valid as he didn’t personally appear to cast his right.

Siva won the post of the secretary by getting 33 votes against competitor Sivasankaran’s 31. FEFSI’s current treasurer Shanmugam was selected for the same post unopposed.

The office bearers of all 23 unions that come under the FEFSI cast their votes on Tuesday. The votes were counted in the evening.

The new office bearers will serve their tenure of two years. The FEFSI election has been conducted after four years against the stipulated two-year period.
