After the National Award winning film Sringaram, director Sharada Ramanathan’s next, Pudhiya Thiruppangal, is ready to hit screens in April. While actors Nanda and Andrea Jeremiah play the lead roles in the movie that deals with child trafficking, Sharada says it’s not a documentary and a completely different genre from her previous flick. “Sringaram’s script demanded that it be made on a serious note entirely, but Pudhiya Thiruppangal is a kind of story which requires a different treatment. It has commercial elements ,” she assures

Nanda and Andrea play a semi-urban young couple in the movie, with the latter playing a journalist. “The duo rub shoulders with people of a different strata of people in the city, and their problems unfold in front of the duo,” says Sharada, who assures that the film has several twists and turns till the climax. “That’s why the movie has been titled Pudhiya Thriuppangal and how the hero handles them is the movie all about,” says Sharada.

The film was made after extensive research about child trafficking. “I visited prisons, met under trials and people affected by child trafficking. I lost sleep for many nights after listening to their stories,” she recalled.
