After Jananathan’s Peraanmai and Vasanthabalan’s Aravaan, actor Dhansika’s next film outing is yet another offbeat film Paradesi, directed by Bala. The actor who played Vanapechi in the period film, Aravaan, is all set to join the next schedule of Paradesi, slated to begin near Munar today.

Informed sources say the actor has been roped in to play an important character that the filmmaker etched with actor Pooja in mind. Pooja, however, had to drop out of the project owing to a prior commitment. “Pooja was part of filmmaker Bala’s next and had given dates for the shoot, but that could not be utilised as there was a strike in the film industry. Shoot for Paradesi has resumed, and the actor is unable to join the crew as she is to promote a Sinhalese movie in Australia this month,” said an official source.

Dhansika was then roped in for the project, and a make-up test conducted recently. Though details about the role aren’t available, sources say the actor will play a deglammed role in the movie, with Atharva in the lead. Vedhika plays the other heroine in the film. The first schedule of Paradesi, which was originally titled Eriyum Thanal,  was held in Ooty early this year. GV Prakash composes music for this film, said to be inspired by a Malayalam novel.
