Looks like it’s a year of new beginnings for singer Krish. He recently became a proud dad of a baby girl, Shivhiya, and now he’s set for a change in his career as well. The singer is now turning actor with his debut film Puriyadha Aanandham, Pudhidhaga Aarambam (PAPA) in a lead role.

Though Krish had announced his decision to act three years ago, finding the right script and team took time. Finally things have fallen into place for him. PAPA is produced by ace producer Ibrahim Rowther and directed by newbie Syed Ibrahim.

Revealing details about the venture, an excited Krish says, “It’s a love story to be shot in Madurai. The heroine is from Mumbai.” Krish will also be doing his share of stunts and shaking a leg for songs.

So what made him take up acting from a flourishing career as playback singer which began in 2006? Surprisingly enough, Krish reveals, “I’m more qualified as an actor than a singer. I’ve got an associate degree from the New York Film Academy after graduating in computer science from the New York University. Acting has always been my passion. I can’t wait to be in front of the camera!” The unit leaves for its first and only schedule on February 14. “We plan to shoot the film straight in one schedule and release the film by May,” explains Krish.

While National Award winner Raja Muhammed handles editing, AJ Abdul handles design. The supporting cast includes Jayaprakash, Subbu and Vijaylakshmi.
