Trashing rumours that he’s been bitten by the acting bug, Kolaveri composer Anirudh Ravichander says that he’s going to stick to music, at least for now. Anirudh tells CE, “No, I am not acting in any film for now. It’s true that I have listened to around twenty scripts and even seriously considererd acting in one of them. But I have several projects to complete as composer, so I have decided that for now there’s going to be no acting for me.” The lanky youngster is currently working on the music of around ten movies in both Kollywood and Bollywood
Post the success of Ethirneechal, Anirudh is busy working on Kiruthiga Udayanidhi’s Vanakkam Chennai. “I will complete the album in ten days. I’ll be mixing it in a London studio, and I’m excited to see what westerners will do with our kind of music!” says Anirudh. He is keen on recording at the famed Abbey Road Studios where The Beatles recorded their music.
With the remarkable line-up of films on hand, Anirudh is in an upbeat mood, “I’m excited that each film is different from the other. My aim is to give an entire hit album each time, and not just one song. However, the challenge is to deliver the music on time!” Anirudh’s projects include a film with Selvaraghavan, a Vijay film directed by A R Murgadoss and Raghava Lawrence’s Muni 3. .
His recording studio seems to be his second home, with family life taking a back seat, “ I’m mostly at the studio developing on a spark. I’m very lucky that the musicians I record with are my best school friends and band members, Vivek, Ananth, Harish and Arvind. So work is fun! They are not from the industry and they keep me completely grounded,” he says
Looking ahead, he says, “Thanks to Kolaveri’s success, getting artistes to work with me has become a little easier. I also like new voices so Pragati from Super Singer, will be singing too,” discloses Anirudh. He hopes that one day he can collaborate with German DJ Hardwell and the dubstep expert Skrillex. “They inspire me!” he declares.
