Eminent film writer K V Vijayendra Prasad, who is also the father of director S S Rajamouli (of Baahubali fame), was in the city recently to deliver a lecture to the students of Blue Ocean Film & Television Academy.

Expectations from him, his son S S Rajamouli and the entire team of Baahubali (2015) have gone up by leaps and bounds after the success of the first part.

Has he actually changed something in the script of the second half to meet this rise in expectations? “No, I have not changed anything at all. I wrote this story according to the parameters set by the director and I wrote it right at the beginning. No alterations have been made in the script after that,” he said.

So, how is the second part of Baahubali shaping up? “The second part will be even better than the first. It has the potential to compete with the best in Hollywood,” he smiled.

Quiz him about the 2015-superhit Bajrangi Bhaijaan, the veteran writer said he was inspired by the Tamil hit Poovizhi Vaasalile (1987 film featuring Sathyaraj and a young child). I have captured the soul of the film in Bajrangi Bhaaijaan.” So what must one have to be a good scriptwriter? Without a moment’s hesitation, he smiled and said: “You should be a good liar.”
