Senjitale...not based on the techie's murder

S Subhakeerthana

Newbie Ezhil Durai who has done around 50 short films has turned a filmmaker-cum-hero with Senjitale En Kaadhala. A mixture of rom-com and dark humour, the young director says the film is about handling breakups gently.

“Besides helming the film, I am playing the protagonist. Senjitale... is just not about moving on, but also insists that nobody has the rights to ruin another person’s life if a relationship becomes unsuccessful. I have handled the script in a different way, which will impact the youth, bringing in a lot of positivity. In fact, there’s life after love,” says Ezhil.

Quiz him if the story was based on the techie’s murder, which happened in the city recently, he clarifies, “Some of the publications had reported it that way, but they are untrue. Maybe, they would have seen the title, which misled them. The film doesn’t demean women at all. The title was meant to raise the curiosity factor.”

Having shot in and around the outskirts of the city, Madhumila of Office fame, plays the female lead. Abhinaya, who was last seen in the Dhanush-starrer Shamitabh (2015), is playing a crucial character.

Arjunan, Kayal Vincent, Rama and Mime Gopi, form the supporting cast.
