Music director A R Rahman put out a status on his Facebook page today, seeking contributions from his fans and followers to rearrange lyrics of his cult-hit song ‘Take it easy, Urvasi’ for a performance.
The song which became a huge hit in the 1990s, featured in Tamil film ‘Kaadhalan’ and Hindi film ‘Humse Hai Muqabla’.
Rahman also requested contributors to leave out the current burning issues of US presidential elections and Modi’s move to demonetise Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 currency notes.
While the music composer’s move is a novel attempt at crowdsourcing, the comments from readers contributing to the song’s peppy tune are even more interesting. There were 900 comments and counting from Tamil and Hindi audience alike, with the enthusiastic social media bunch posting witty and clever lyrics.
Poking fun at the ‘like mongers’ on Facebook, “DP maathiyum like varalainaa, take it easy urvasi :-)”, "Friend request reject-aana, take it easy Urvasi!", “ Kadalai naduvil, battery theerndha, take it easy Urvasi!”
Facebook users also took a dig at Chennai airport’s perpetual problem of falling glass panes, with “Airport ceiling, thalaila vilundha, take it easy Urvasi!”
