The cliche ‘on a roll’ best describes Tanya’s situation. Granddaughter of yesteryear actor Ravichandran, this 22-year-old already has two films in her kitty — one with filmmaker Mysskin and the other with Radha Mohan of Mozhi (2007) fame. “I can’t get any happier as offers have been pouring in from everywhere, even though I am yet to make a film debut,” beams Tanya who has done a course on marketing management and currently studies for masters in Madras School of Social Work.
While Tanya is interested in films, her parents are particular that she concentrates on academics too. “As far as Mysskin’s untitled film is concerned, I blindly said ‘yes’, because it’s him! I am paired opposite Maitreya, son of financier Raghunathan who’s turning producer with this movie.” Also this pretty lady has been roped in by Radha Mohan as the heroine opposite Arulnidhi Tamilarasu. “I am not supposed to say anything about this project,” she laughs. “When Radha Mohan sir heard that I was cast in Mysskin’s film, I got a call from him. I auditioned for the role, and eventually bagged it. All his films will have heroines playing an integral part. I am quite sure this project will be like that too.”
However, Tanya will be attending an acting workshop for Radha Mohan’s project. “I never imagined that all this will happen. I am pretty excited. I am a huge fan of his films and glad that I am going to work with him. We’ll be shooting for the film from August,” she informs.
And what’s next? “I am open to any role. I am reading some scripts to decide on my next film. I like to do both experimental and performance-oriented roles. If the role demands it, I am ready for glamorous scenes too,” she explains.
While films had been her passion, she wished her grandfather (Ravichandran) was alive today to see her making a film debut. “I would have been extremely happy, if he is alive today,” she says. Hoping both her films would establish her presence in Tamil films, Tanya says she is eager to work with all the top actors and directors in the field. “Yes, I am greedy,” she says with a happy smile.
