CHENNAI: Director Anand Balki, whose film Server Sundaram will feature Santhanam and Nagesh’s grandson Nagesh Bijesh in the lead, has now roped in Marathi theatre artiste Vaibhavi Shandilya as the heroine. Talking to City Express, Anand Balki says, “We signed Vaibhavi as the heroine. It took almost three months to finalise the heroine. The search has been long and hard but it’s worth waiting for someone like Vaibhavi.”

Balki says, “Vaibhavi isn’t only a theatre artiste; she is also a good Kathak and Bharatanatyam dancer. We okayed her after a video audition. I got to know of her through an agent in Mumbai.”

Vaibhavi will play the character of Sanjana in the film. “Sanjana is a tomboyish character who doesn’t care what people say and is very focussed. She is the motivation for Sundaram (played by Santhanam) in the film.”

He adds that a photo session will be held on March 18 in Chennai. “The shoot will be done by G Venkat Ram.  We will release a teaser in April. The film’s schedule will start from March 28,” says Balki.
