Mani Ratnam, who’s wrapping up the romantic drama Kaatru Veliyidai, starring Karthi, Aditi Rao Hydari, Rukmini Vijayakumar and Shraddha Srinath, will shoot some important sequences in Ladakh.  According to sources, the director and Sham Kaushal (stunt choreographer) are busy finalising locations in the North as the team will be shooting an intense action-related sequence soon, which is expected to be quite realistic.

Kaushal had worked before with Mani in Raavan (2010). Two schedules are over and the team is on a break now. Majority of the portions were shot in Chennai and Ooty. We also hear that the next schedule will start in Kashmir later this month or around the first week of October.

Sources said, “The crew will shoot a good number of scenes in Kashmir before moving to Ladakh. After Dil Se.. (1998), Mani Ratnam will be shooting in Ladakh after two decades.”

Produced by Madras Talkies, Kaatru Veliyidai also has RJ Balaji and Delhi Ganesh in important roles. The project has music by AR Rahman, lyrics by Vairamuthu, and cinematography by Ravi Varma.

The story, set against the backdrop of a war, is said to have Siruthai (2011) actor playing an NRI in the film and falls in love with a doctor played by Aditi, while on a trip to India. Rumours were abuzz that Karthi was learning the basics of flying sometime ago!
