It’s not ideal to release my film alongside Kaatru Veliyidai

Senjitale En Kaadhala, releasing tomorrow, has Ezhil Durai doubling up as both hero and director. Ezhil shares that the producer requested him to play the hero. “Although I have acted in over 60 short films, I didn’t want to play the lead role. But thankfully, it didn’t require that I alter myself physically to suit the requirements.

I just had to rehearse my lines meticulously, and learn to look more presentable,” he says. “In fact, I had actually written a few portions of the script keeping  more experienced actors in mind. I had to alter all those portions.”  The film’s theme is universal, he says. “It is a movie that can work across all centres. In fact, it has already been dubbed and released in Telugu. The response there has been favourable.” Ezhil knows it isn’t ideal to release the film alongside Mani Ratnam’s Kaatru Veliyidai. “We had actually planned for a release around Valentine’s Day. But it kept getting postponed, and if it weren’t for this week, I doubt we will be able to get as wide a release.”
