Halitha Shameem, who wrote and directed Poovarasam Peepee, is working on her next, an anthology called Turtles, with dancer-actor Leela Samson and Kravmaga Sreeram, besides a few others, in the lead. Halitha has also been occupied with work on her pet project, Minmini.

“I have been working on Minmini for quite some time now. It has Esther Anil of Papanasam fame in an important role. It’s a children’s film and deals with survival guilt. It will be an emotional roller coaster ride based on friendship and sacrifice,” she says. The team has already finished shooting the first half of the film. “The second half requires that my actors get older, and so, I have taken a break for about three months, so Esther can age a bit,” she tells us.

Her recent short film, Turtles, will be getting a theatrical release soon. “It’s a mix of different stories and each of them is named differently. Anthologies aren’t new to cinema. Bejoy Nambiar is already working on one such project--Solo--now.”
Halitha believes that a creative person can dabble in any medium.

“It’s not that a filmmaker should only direct full length-feature films. I’d love to make a web-series soon, and am, in fact, planning to do so,” she smiles.
