Debutant director B Dhandapani’s Guru Uchaththula Irukkaru, that’s set for release this Friday, is a political comedy.

The filmmaker says he repeatedly fine-tuned his script before taking the plunge. The simple storyline apparently has two main leads who believe in using their respective favourite weapon, the sickle and the gun, to make their points.

“A youngster meanwhile steps in to have fun at their expense,” says the director. “There is a love angle too. And when the plot thickens, it paves the way for the fringe artistes to come into the fray.” Dhandapani says that he trusts that composer Tajnoor’s music will set the right mood for his film.

Debutant actor Guru Jeeva plays an important role in the film. The director says the actor has the talent and will go far if moulded well. “Guru comes from a VisCom background and was a quick learner on the sets. His scenes with Aara, the female lead, have come out well,” says the filmmaker who believes that the comical elements in his film will ensure that the audience have a “two-hour relaxed outing.”
