Saravanan Rajendran, an erstwhile associate of Balu Mahendra and Kamal Haasan, has turned director with a romantic film starring newbie Ranga and Shweta Tripathi in the lead.

Saravanan, who has worked as a co-director in films including Joker and Panjumittai, has roped in his brother, Raju Murugan, to pen the story and dialogues for this untitled project.

“We’ll start shooting in Kodaikanal soon. Ranga, the hero, will be seen playing a guy who works in a recording theatre and Shweta will play a gypsy. How they fall in love is what this story is about. Part of this film is set in a period,” he says.

While Sean Roldan is on board as the composer, the film has Ankur of Slumdog Millionaire in an important role.
