CHENNAI: Filmmaker Vijay says his upcoming Tamil-Telugu horror drama "Karu", which features Sai Pallavi in the lead, will talk about the sensitive topic of abortion.

"The film focuses on the bond between a mother and her four-year-old daughter. Sai Pallavi plays the mother. The film touches upon the rarely spoken about issue of abortion. I can't say anything more at the moment," Vijay told IANS.

The film marks the Tamil debut of Sai Pallavi, best known for starring in Malayalam films "Premama and "Kali".

On signing her, Vijay said: "Ever since I saw 'Premam' and 'Kali', I knew she could pull off this intense role. In 'Karu', she has done a phenomenal job and audiences are going to love her."

The film, which has been titled "Kanam" in Telugu, also stars Naga Shaurya.

"Karu" is currently in post-production.

Meanwhile, Vijay has announced he reunites with Prabhudheva for a yet-untitled Tamil project.

Remaining tight-lipped about the genre of the project, he said it will be an interesting film.

The duo had worked together in last year's Tamil horror hit, "Devi".
