During the press meet of Karuppan, Vijay Sethupathi said that his pride as a Tamilian would prevent him from accepting an award from the Central Government.

He also added if he were ever forced to choose between his identity as a Tamilian and an award from the Central Government, he will always choose the former.

“I am always for and with the Tamil people,” the actor said.

Produced by AM Ratnam, Karuppan has Tanya Ravichandran of Brindavanam fame playing the heroine, and stars many other popular actors including Bobby Simha, Kishore, Kaveri, Pasupathy and Sharath Lohitashwa.
