Cinematographer-actor Natarajan Subramaniam aka Natty, who was last seen in Richie, has signed his next, a crime thriller titled Silk. The film is directed by duo Hari and Haresh of Aaaah fame.

Speaking to CE, Haresh says, “This is our fifth film, and we wrote the script for Natty sir. The story is set in Kanchipuram, and he plays an online shopping delivery guy. When we narrated the script to him, he said he has been waiting for this kind of concept for a long time.”

Haresh says the project got materialised because of Arun Reddy, executive producer of Lingaa. “He was the one to suggest Natty, and helped take this forward.”

The director says the film will also do something not done too many times in our industry. “We’ve really explored Kanchipuram with this film. Tamil cinema has typically set its stories in Madurai, Theni, and Coimbatore. There’s an interesting connection with the silk sari, and the protagonist.”

While the female lead hasn’t been decided yet, Silk has CS Sam on music, and Anbariv on stunt choreography.
