‘Businessman’ reels burnt by ABVP men

HYDERABAD: Police have booked cases against Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishath activists, after they allegedly set ablaze reels of Telugu film ‘Businessman’ on the Osmania University campus on Wednesday.

The film stars Mahesh Babu and Kajal Agarwal.

Scores of screaming ABVP activists entered the Aaradhana theatre located near the varsity and stalled screening of film.

They also burnt reels of film in front of Arts College protesting the ‘Bad Boys’ song in the film.

T Rama Krishna, ABVP national executive member alleged that the song gives a bad message to audience and it was filled with abusive words.

He demanded the director Puri Jagannath and actor Mahesh Babu tender apologies to everyone.

Meanwhile, Osmania University police have booked cases against ten ABVP activists for vandalism.

Based on complaint lodged by the theatre management, police have booked cases against 10 ABVP student activists including K Raju, Rama Krishna, Kalyan, Veerababu, Prem under sections 379 (theft), 427 (mischief), 448 (mischief) and 506 (criminal intimidation) of IPC.

“The accused are absconding and will be arrested sooner or later,” OU police inspector K Ashok said.
