One too Many for Sriwass

Director Sriwass says excess competition hampered revenues of big Sankranthi films this year

Admitting that he took the tried and tested route with Nandamuri  Balakrishna’s Dictator, director Sriwass says he’s happy with the film’s response thus far.

The director, though, lamented the release of four films for the festive Sankranthi period as he felt they ate into each others’ success.  “All four releases suffered because of this. I think two releases are fine for the Sankranthi period and anything more than that will be a problem for all other releases,” Sriwass said.

“If you notice, all four movies received positive feedback from the audience but unfortunately, they could not reach their true potential due to so many films running at the same time. The number of theatres were drastically reduced for all four films,” the director reasoned.

Inspite of this, Sriwass is delighted with the film’s response and said there was a lot that he takes away from it, including a special bond he has forged with Balakrishna. Eros International, the film’s producers, are also in talks for a Hindi remake.
