Tamil Nadu opposition parties stage bandh in support of farmers

An all-party meeting held by the DMK on April 16 had called for the bandh as part of the effort to mount pressure on the State and the Centre to waive farm loans taken from nationalised banks, provide enough succour to the worst-hit farmers and adequate compensation for crop loss without any categorisation. The opposition parties have also urged the Tamil Nadu government to waive off all farm loans and convene a special session of the assembly to discuss the farmers' issues. (EPS| Ashwin Prasath)
