Kuldip Nayar, 95, eminent journalist, author, human rights activist, and former Indian high commissioner to the United Kingdom passed away on August 23, 2018.

Kuldip Nayar was a renowned journalist and former editor of The Indian Express who fought fiercely for press freedom, especially during Emergency. Nayar has authored 15 books including 'Beyond the Lines', and 'Emergency Retold'. (Photo | AFP)

Beyond The Lines: Kuldip Nayar was born and brought up at Sialkot (now in Pakistan) and had a chance to witness the history unfold. Nayar was one among the large group of people which was forced to migrate to Delhi during the partition of India.
