Monsoon fury leaves trail of destruction in hilly areas of Kerala's Kozhikode; rescue operations in place

Heavy rains and land slide in the past few few days has wrecked havoc across the district.

Heavy rain has been lashing the district for the past week wreaking heavy damage and the District Disaster Management and a team of National Disaster Response Team have joined rescue operations. (EPS | TP Sooraj ) 

At least five people including a nine year old child has died as heavy rain continued to pound Kozhikode district triggering multiple landslides in the hilly regions. (EPS | TP Sooraj )

Scores of houses were destroyed and roads washed away, disrupting the movement of vehicles. More people are feared to be missing in the landslide and floods. (EPS | TP Sooraj )

The collector has declared a holiday for educational institutions, including professional colleges and the district administration has swung into action with rescue operations in the area. (EPS | TP Sooraj )

In the wake of heavy rains in the district, Collector suspended the movement of vehicles along the Thamarassery Ghat road and to the hilly regions. (EPS | TP Sooraj )
