Ayushmann and Ajay Devgn films set for a showdown

This looks to be the year of big clashes. Ayushmann’s film Shubh Mangal Saavdhan, is expected to release on September 1.

The film also stars Bhumi Pednekar and is directed by R. S. Prasanna, and is the remake of Tamil film, Kalyana Samayal Saadham that starred Prasanna and Lekha Washington.

The movie was about a couple who meet through an arranged marriage alliance, fall in love but a few days before the marriage, the groom finds out that he suffers from erectile dysfunction. This rom-com, produced by Anand L Rai, looks set to clash with Ajay’s Baadshaho that stars Emraan Hashmi, Esha Gupta and Ileana D’ Cruz.

The action-thriller is directed by Milan Luthria and is set against the backdrop of the Emergency. The film was originally planned for release on Republic Day but after the makers of Raees and Kaabil requested them to change the date, it was pushed to May, but now, it seems the film will release on September 1.

This isn’t the only instance of two big films clashing. Rohit Shetty’s Golmaal Again featuring Ajay and Parineeti Chopra is set for a Diwali showdown with Aamir Khan’s Secret Superstar.
