Mild tremors cause panic, fear in Borabanda

HYDERABAD: Slight tremors were felt in some parts of the city on Sunday night. Padmavathi Colony, Devaiah Basthi and Bhavani Nagar are few of the places in Borabanda that experienced mild earthquake. Some areas in Begumpet and Punjagutta also experienced minor tremors.

“We noticed a buzzing sound and felt slight tremors that lasted for two to three seconds. It caused panic in the area, for a while,” said K Rajya Lakshmi, a resident of Bhavani Nagar of Borabanda. The womenfolk of the area were playing Bathukamma during that time and despite the tremors, they continued to celebrate the festival. It is not clear if it was a mild earthquake or a blast.
