17 held for selling IPL tickets in black

HYDERABAD: As many as 17 persons were held by Rachakonda Special Operations Team for selling tickets of Indian Premier League T20 cricket match in black. The accused identified cricket lovers who wanted to watch the inaugural match but did not have tickets.

On April 5, raids were conducted at Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium by the SOT, who were in mufti. “The y were selling tickets of `1,000 for `5,000 depending on the buyer’s desperation. On settling the price, the accused took his customer to a side and handed over the ticket,” said Malkajgiri SOT inspector G Naveen Kumar. About 43 tickets and `43,640 cash have been seized from the accused. He said the police would continue raids until IPL season ends.
