HYDERABAD: The residents and owners of Rainbow Vista apartments in Moosapet on Sunday staged a protest against basic amenities not being provided by the Cybercity Builders and Developers Private Limited.
The silent protest by the residents saw the members out on the Green Hills across the footpath with placards asking the builders ‘When will you provide the promised amenities Cybercity?’, and ‘When will the township be ready?’.
Symbolically dressed in black, the 80-odd owners with their families from the up-market gated community Rainbow Vistas @ Rock Garden — a residential project developed by Cybercity —have been protesting on every Sunday for four weeks now.
“The township has still not completed fire testing exercises in various blocks of the township,” exclaimed Pavan Daga, a resident of the gated community. “I moved into this place three years ago expecting the promised amenities to be completed. However, a majority of the works are still pending,” he added.
The residents allege that a seven acre central park, a unique selling proposition of the project is still to be constructed.
“Children play area, sports complex, jogging track, and swimming pool are still to be ready for us. Why make us wait this long when we moved in three years ago? rued Mahesh, an owner.
“These things may not be of much importance but when I invested my money, I will definitely fight for it. Why mislead us by false promises,” said Chiranjeevi another owner. If it was just any other flat where I had to pay the electricity and water bills, I would have certainly not bought this, he added.
However, the developers in their defence, said that the protest is being undertaken just by 10 per cent of the residents, which does not reflect the entire picture.
“They are protesting in order to avoid the common maintenance charges that they need to pay. There are certain promises like sports complex that are to be fulfilled,” said Murali Krishna, Group Chairman, Cybercity group. We will have a discussion with the owners to sort the issue out, he added.
The Rainbow Vista Apartments consists of 13 blocks with nearly 2,000 apartments of them 800 are occupied as of now.
Not a lone incident
It can be noted that three months ago, residents of Lodha Bellezza, a gated community in Kukatpally division, also protested for an illegal wall demolition. They moved to the High Court to get a stay on the demolition process
