HYDERABAD: From Friday, senior citizens above 60-years and children below five-years can submit their passport applications by walking into a Passport Seva Kendra without prior appointment.
This provision will be implemented at all PSKs under jurisdiction of Regional Passport Office, Hyderabad, stated Dr E Vishnu Vardhan Reddy, regional passport officer. However, the applicants
need to carry their Application Reference Number sheet and required documents to PSKs.

Earlier, those who used to live in rental homes found passport application process tedious if they were to submit rental agreement as address proof as it had to be registered at Registrar Office. However, from Friday, notarised rental agreement will be accepted too. “As part of the ongoing efforts to simplify the passport application process, the competent authority has also approved acceptance of ‘rental agreement’ as proof of address,” Dr Vishnu Vardhan stated. Also, persons with physical disability in their hands and children below five-years are exempted from finger print scanning while applying for passports.
