HYDERABAD : Everyone has a story to tell and some stories resonate with us all the more. Dr Vahini Reddy is a self-made woman who has impressively dealt with the adversities that life has thrown at her. Founder and Director of Evolve Excellence and Chairperson of VR Oneness Foundation, Vahini is also a single mother who has shrugged off society’s disapproval and made a mark for herself in the business world.

With a conviction to inspire other single parents on their journey to self-sustainability, she launched ‘Vaahini and the Lion’, co-authored by British author Yunus Sola in the city on Sunday. Narrated by both Vaahini and her son Suhas, the book speaks of the journey of individuals who refused to lose hope and faced their fears. The Lioness Campaign, she informed, is  a global initiative for women to build an ecosystem where they can  support each other and provide a virtual counselling place.

At the book launch, Janaki Rajagopal, founder of JRL Foundation and an advocate of women’s rights, spoke of the importance of women to be vocal about their experiences, whether good or bad. “Women often suffer in silence and put up an image of everything being all right with their lives over fear of social stigma.” Vahini’s story is one of resilience and the courage to fight back. Speaking of her own experiences through the book will act as a guide to other women to strengthen their own lives and not give in to the expectations of the society.
