Ammonium nitrate used in Pune blasts: Forensic

The explosive material used byterrorists to trigger coordinated serial bomb blasts in Punewas ammonium nitrate, according to a preliminary forensicexamination.

Official sources privy to the investigations said tonightthat ammonium nitrate, which has been often used by bannedterrorist outfits like Indian Mujahideen, was packed inside asteel box.

The sources said a timer was also attached to the steelbox and a combination of Neogel, generally used in stonequarries, and ammonium nitrate oil was used as the bindingforce for the Improvised Explosive Device(IED).

Four low intensity explosions rocked Pune last nightwhile one was partially detonated and another one was foundlive and later defused.
