Role of some Assam politicians isbeing probed for the weekend violence in Mumbai asinvestigators opined that the agitation was orchestratedrather than being spontaneous.

Government officials said the investigators were sure thatthe hooliganism was organised by certain people with vestedinterests and there was a strong possibility of some peoplefrom outside Mumbai being behind it.

Probe agencies have found that those who indulged inviolence were brought to the spot in hired buses and werearmed with lathis, sickles and other instruments.

"There were clear indications that some people came to theprotest venue only to create disturbances. Those who werearrested are being interrogated and we are sure that the truthwill come out soon," an official said.

Investigators believed that Raza Academy, the organiser ofSaturday's protest in Mumbai's Azad Maidan, may not have linkswith the violent mob, which came to the venue in the garb ofprotesters.

Two persons were killed and many injured when a protestin Mumbai's Azad Maidan against Assam riots and attacks onMuslims in Myanmar turned violent on Saturday withdemonstrators torching vehicles and pelting stones, promptingthe police to fire in the air to disperse them.
