India Inc’s Kashmir visit evokes a mixed response

As the corporate czars from leading Indian business houses along with Congress scion Rahul Gandhi descended on the University of Kashmir campus on Friday, they were greeted with cheers inside the convocation hall and protests outside.

A capacity crowd was in attendance at the venue of the interface at the varsity auditorium. And the business leaders, including Tata Group chairman Ratan Tata, patiently answered the numerous questions put to them by the students.

In fact, the freewheeling question-answer session, which was surprisingly ‘apolitical’, began after Rahul addressed the gathering. And the majority of the questions related to the the future prospects of ‘generation next’ as well as the role, the top industrialists could play in the region torn apart by conflict since the early nineties.

Earlier, Rahul who set the ball rolling told the students that he had come to the state to forge a long-term and sustained relationship with Kashmir, especially its youths.
