‘Even Chavan favoured Goshikhurd project’

Express News Service

Undeterred by the Congress attack over letter row involving him, BJP president Nitin Gadkari on Saturday said “even Maharashtra Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan and Congress state chief Manikarao Thakre had written letters in favour of the Goshikhurd project”.

“Did I commit a crime when I wrote a letter in favour of the Goshikhurd project? Since the project fell in my constituency, people approached me as it was getting delayed,” he said, addressing a national convention of the BJP’s economic cell.

“Manikarao Thakre also wrote a letter...In my knowledge, Maharashtra Chief Minister also wrote one.... Union Minister Mukul Wasnik, who is an MP from Maharashtra, wrote another. In fact, a large number of MPs and MLAs wrote in favour of the project,” he said.
