Comparing their condition similarto Kingfisher employees, a section of Air India pilots havesought India's Civil Aviation Minister Ajit Singh'sintervention in resolving their grievances related to duesalaries and allowances.
In a letter to Singh, the Indian Commercial PilotsAssociation termed the suicide by the wife of a Kingfisheremployee as "unfortunate" and said that "matters at Air Indiawas not too different from Kingfisher Airlines".
"Our salaries and flying allowances too are pending formonths and the uncertainty regarding the schedule of paymentshas become unbearable," ICPA general secretary Capt T PraveenKeerthi said.
"An unsatisfied employee cannot keep up efficiency forlong as his financial worries take over his thought process. Astressed pilot is a potential disaster in waiting," he said,adding that an AI engineer too had committed suicide last yeardue to financial worries.
"We appreciate your understanding of the fact that flightsafety is affected if employees have not been paid for severalmonths. We humbly request you to kindly intervene at theearliest and restore normalcy in our lives which unfortunatelyhas been lacking for past three years," Keerthi said.
