Body of a three-year-old infant girlwas recovered from a drain in Baran district, with policesuspecting that she might have been raped and murdered.
The infant's grandmother had last night raised an alarmafter finding her missing, SP Shivlal said, adding that thechild's body was later recovered from a drain in Nandola area,two kilometres away from her home.
Prima facie, it appears that she was strangulated to deathand police suspect she might have been abducted by someoneclose to the family, he said.
Meanwhile irate over the incident, locals staged protestby keeping victim's body on the Baran-Shahbad road.
However, they were later pacified by officials and thebody was sent for post mortem.
