4 Held for Shooting Documentary Without Permission in Varanasi

Four members of a film crew have been arrested for shooting a documentary with the help of a drone camera at Dashshwamedh ghat here without taking prior permission from District administration.

VARANASI: Four members of a film crew have been arrested for shooting a documentary with the help of a drone camera at Dashshwamedh ghat here without taking prior permission from District administration.

According to Circle Officer D P Shukla, some of the documentary crew members were capturing Ganga Aarti performed every evening at the ghat here yesterday.

The crew consisting of 12 members also included US nationals and Australians and are staying in two separate hotels in city.

They had not taken permission for using drone camera and heli camera from the district administration, said Shukla.

The four arrested are identified as Sandeep and Vipul from Chandigarh, Tirthkar from Mumbai and Vipul from Delhi, the police officer said.

"The documentary crew had taken permission for two days beginning July 5, however, they were capturing the Ganga aarti for the documentary film yesterday," he said.
