J And K Machil Fake Encounter Case: 7 Armymen Sentenced to Life

NEW DELHI: Army has convicted seven of its men, including two officers, for their involvement in the 2010 Machil fake encounter case near the Line of Control at Machil sector in the border district of Kupwara in Jammu and Kashmir, in April 2010.

All the seven officers have been sentenced to life imprisonment and their service benefits have been suspended, according to ministry of defence sources.

In 2010, three youths  were allegedly lured to a border area and shot dead in a staged encounter.
