PATNA: The Janata Dal (United) on Saturday said that the Central Bureau of Investigation(CBI) should work without political vendetta and appear unbiased while investigating the case against Uttarakhand Chief Minister Harish Rawat in connection with a bribe–related probe against him.

“CBI should be unbiased and we are totally in the movement against corruption but it should be noted that the investigative agency should look into the issue without any hint of political vendetta,” JD-U spokesperson Dr. Sunil Kumar told ANI.

“They should look unbiased and appear clean because CBI recently has been questioned several times that it operates under political pressure.CBI should prove themselves clean and doesn’t work under pressure,” he added.

Rawat has been asked to appear before the CBI on Monday.

The CBI had registered the preliminary enquiry on April 29 to probe a sting operation that purportedly showed Rawat offering bribes to rebel Congress MLAs to support him during the floor test. The agency had summoned Rawat for examination on May 9, but he had sought more time.

The case was handed over to the CBI when President’s Rule was imposed in the state. The notification was withdrawn immediately after Rawat proved his majority in the assembly and his government was restored.
