16-year-old girl raped and murdered in Tripura

The body of the victim was recovered from an abandoned house at Link Road of the town on Saturday midnight.

AGARTALA: A 16-year-old girl was allegedly raped and then murdered at Dharmanagar, headquarters of North Tripura district, about 220 km from here, police said today.
    
The girl, a student of class IX received a phone call from a known person on Saturday evening and left her house, Superintendent of Police, Manik Das told reporters.
    
Her body with multiple injuries was recovered from an abandoned house at Link Road of the town on Saturday midnight.
    
Police yesterday arrested a person named Rajat Tanti (22), who "admitted" to police that he raped and murdered the girl, the SP said adding further investigation is on.
