LUCKNOW: Once considered to be a firebrand hardcore advocate of Hindutva, Yogi Adityanath when took over as the UP CM, he was seen striving to shed that image and work for sabka saath, sabka vikas without any discrimination, but BJP’s central leadership has again sought his services to promote its campaign against alleged political violence led by party chief Amit Shah  in the southern state of Kerala and draw Hindu vote bank in favour of saffron.

CM Yogi Adityanath left for God’s own country on Tuesday evening to lead party’s pad yatra in Kannur on Wednesday. Kannur has a majority Hindu vote bank constituting around 53  percent the total population in district. According to political observers, Adityanath’s services are being taken to have a foothold in this Hindu dominated district which has been comfortably aligned with the left till now.

Over the next 15 days,  Shah and other top BJP leaders and union ministers are likely to hold Jan Rakshak Yatra along with hundreds of party cadre across the state to Thiruvanthapuram, in order to bring what the BJP calls the ruling CPM’s “murder politics” to national arena. The BJP pad yatra will be crossing through the CPM villages in Kannur in the first three days.

Kannur has for years witnessed clashes, especially between Left activists and those of the BJP and the RSS. Since May last year, when the CPM-led Left Democratic Front won the assembly elections in Kerala, there have been eight gruesome political murders - five BJP workers and three of the CPM.
