NEW DELHI: After taking charge of Ministry for Water Resources, River Development and Ganga Rejuvenation Nitin Gadkari on Monday announced formation of an inter-ministerial task force to push pending Ganga related projects.
Taking charge from his predecessor Uma Bharti, Gadkari said that task force will consist of ministries like drinking water and sanitation, rural development and Panchayati Raj, tourism and urban development.
“All programmes and projects of the ministry will be executed within a definite time frame and within a week timelines for pending projects will be released. The task force will oversee all projects,” said Gadkari.
Praising Bharti for the work done for Ganga cleaning, Gadkari said she has done ground work for most of the projects and now they all will be launched in a time bound manner.
“I will ensure completion of pending work in a transparent manner. We will try to achieve the dreams of the prime minister in a time-bound manner and will attain all the deadlines fixed by Umaji,” he added.
Bharti along with her two junior ministers Sanjiv Balyan and Vijay Goel were shunted out of the ministry owing to slow pace of work related to Ganga cleaning, river interlinking and irrigation projects.
Along with Gadkari, Arjun Ram Meghwal and Satyapal Singh also took charge of minister of state.
